Combating Violent Crime Project

Combating violent crime in Jacksonville through strategic partnerships with communities, law enforcement, and data scientists

FIU is partnering with the Jacksonville State Attorney’s Office (SAO) to combat violent crime through the use of data-driven prosecution strategies. Complementing robust targeted prosecution and community engagement plans, FIU will help the SAO develop performance indicators that foster crime prevention and effective prosecution. The project will also enhance reporting mechanisms to enable better internal and external communication, train attorneys to utilize data to make evidence-based prosecutorial decisions, and turn the SAO’s current case tracking system into an analytic tool to assist in its targeted prosecution and community engagement efforts. The project is funded by the Bureau of Justice Assistance’s Innovative Prosecution Solutions program.
